Abu Dhabi: Police arrested two bank employees suspected of stealing Dh171,000 from two bank accounts using the online transfer system, in cooperation with a third employee and a client .
Colonel Maktoum Al Sharifi, Director of the Abu Dhabi Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID), said they received a report from the bank about a suspected robbery from two accounts belonging to Emirati clients who informed the bank that money were transferred from their accounts to another client's account without their knowledge.
The CID tasked a squad of police officers specialised in such crimes to investigate the case.
On intensive investigations and after checking account statements, police found that three bank employees and an Arab man, allegedly conspired to steal from clients' accounts.
Al Sharifi said they opened a bank account for the fourth suspect as a new bank client and made a transfer of Dh171,000 to the new client's account.
Police arrested two employees while the third one and the alleged client are still at large.
