Dubai: The Emirates Thalassaemia Society has, for the first time, helped a patient get married.
According to a press statement, the society always renders support to its patients in the most surprising ways. Helping patients and their families with their financial conditions, such as financing their school fees, house rentals or helping them get a decent job, are just few of the ongoing works of the society.
The lucky patient, who also suffers from diabetes, would never have thought that her dream of getting married would materialise just by sending a letter to the society.
After receiving the letter, the Emirates Thalassaemia Society made her wish come true and gave her the wedding reception that would last forever in her memory.
The Chairman of Emirates Thalassaemia Society Abdul Baset Merdas said: "Every patient is special to our organisation." Keeping that in mind, he chose to give her a wedding in the auspicious Al Boom Tourist Village, a very popular wedding and party function hub.
Last Friday, a grand wedding reception for about 150 guests was held in Al Boom Tourist Village late in the evening. The wedding reception was attended by the family members of the couple, their friends and also a supporting group of staff members from Emirates Thalassaemia Society and Thalassaemia Centre.
