Abu Dhabi: The Takatof voluntary social programme, held under the patronage of Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, concluded its first training camp for school volunteers.
Takatof is a voluntary social programme designed by the Emirates Foundation to inspire a culture of social activism throughout the UAE. The scheme mobilises people and resources across the nation to help those in need. It particularly provides young people an opportunity to volunteer for humanitarian, social and community programmes that serve those least able to help themselves.
The Takatof programme is inspired by the vision of General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, who called for inculcating a spirit of positive social endeavour in the nation's youth.
The valedictory ceremony saw awards being handed out to volunteers and the release of a book chronicling the events of the first season of the project and its major milestones. Maytha Al Hasbi, director of Takatof, said that the school volunteer programme had drawn a strong response from the school students and educational institutions, as well as from civil organisations.
