Dubai: The Veterinary Services Section of the Dubai Municipality has organised a campaign in Dubai to raise the awareness of laws for pet owners.
The campaign will continue until the end of December.
Hashim Al Awadi, Head of Veterinary Services Section said: "The goal of this campaign is to educate pet owners about local laws such as where they must register and vaccinate their animals against diseases, and purchasing of animals or birds from premises approved by Dubai Municipality with health certificate and vaccination record and CITES certificate in case the animal is among endangered species."
He also noted that the first phase of the campaign was in Jumeirah area, where pet owners were educated on the law through the distribution of leaflets and brochures, which included the local laws to be complied by the animal owners, how to look after them as well as special laws for protection of cruelty towards animals.
The campaign was welcomed by pet owners as it was would make them aware of animal welfare laws as wll as a list of offences which would be implemented by the Veterinary Services Section at the end of the campaign.
Al Awadi pointed out that local laws, animal welfare laws and a list of offences would be published in local newspapers.
