26-Oct-2016 :

Dubai: Dubai-based businessman Balwinder Sahani, who bought car number plate D5 for Dh33 million at a Roads and Transport Authority auction on October 8, has been fined Dh1,000 and four black points for illegally parking in a space reserved for people with disabilities, Dubai Police said on Tuesday.

The offending Rolls-Royce, sporting the number plate D5, was parked illegally in a spot clearly marked for people with disabilities, police said.

Lt Gen Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Dubai Police Chief, said this is just another traffic violation and should be treated as such and nothing more.

A short video of the car parking in the spot went viral on social media, with people criticising the behaviour. The video showed the driver parking the car, while the car’s owner got in a few seconds later.
