Dubai, UAE, August 27: Victims of the recent Pakistan floods will benefit from the proceeds of a special exhibition held on Thursday night at the Pearl Continental Hotel in Deira, Dubai. The soiree, which was organised by Ladyz Fuzion, a local non-profit organisation, was officially opened by Pakistan’s Dubai Consul General and featured a host of the city’s popular lifestyle service providers. The event attracted hundreds of visitors keen to bag a bargain and find out more about the specialist tailored lifestyle offerings available at the various stalls.
“I am very proud to see that Ladyz Fuzion has allocated a special desk for collecting donations at this event and am grateful to have been invited here tonight,” said Mr. Amjad Ali Sher, Consul General for Pakistan, in his opening address. “The disaster in Pakistan is something we can have a collective responsibility for. As well as governments and non-governmental organisations, individuals also have an important part to play and we can all do our bit to help,” he added.
The Ladyz Fuzion event was the brainchild of Saira Imran, who is the organisation’s President and activity promoter. Her aim is to give local talented artisans and merchants a platform to display their work and she explained why she thought that the event was an important one for the emirate.
“Ladyz Fuzion was started in May this year and we have been running events such as this every month,” she said. “Our aim is to showcase talent and give people an opportunity to show their skills and capabilities to a wide audience. We are a non-profit making organisation and it seemed absolutely right on this occasion to donate all the money we earned to help people in Pakistan in this time of their great need,” she continued.
One popular stand on the night was the American British Surgical & Medical Centre (ABSAMC)’s stall, which was promoting its array of clinical and cosmetic services. Candice Watson, who practices semi-permanent make-up at the centre, said that the occasion was the perfect one to demystify aspects of her treatment.
“This has proved to have been a great way of getting to know potential customers and explaining exactly the nature of my treatment,” she said. “I practice micro-pigmentation at ABSAMC and this is a procedure that applies a long-lasting cosmetic. It can also be used to remove unwanted tattoos and reduce scarring, so being able to meet people in such an informal and non-clinical setting to discuss it has been extremely beneficial,” she added.
Mr. Syed Ali Samir Bukhari was manning what was undoubtedly the most important stand at the event; the dedicated flood donations desk. He was keen to impress the fact that anybody who wanted to make donations to the fund need not be concerned about the money going to those who genuinely needed it.
“I am a banker by profession and I wouldn’t have become involved in this fund unless I was absolutely sure that the money raised was going to the right people,” he said. “So far, we have managed to raise about two and a half million Dirhams and have sent sixteen containers of essential provisions to Pakistan. We are extremely grateful for everybody who has contributed so far. With everybody’s continued help, we can continue with this vital work and help bring relief to Pakistan” he added.
