Adventurer Elham Al Qasimi visits Ski Dubai to prepare for her unassisted journey to the North Pole

Dubai, UAE, 11 March 2010: Ski Dubai, part of Majid Al Futtaim Leisure, played host to Elham Al Qasimi on Thursday March 11 as the 27 year-old Emirati prepares to become the first UAE national to undertake an extraordinary adventure to the Arctic.

In order to build her physical and mental endurance for the expedition, Al Qasimi visited the Middle East's first indoor ski resort which not only provides the perfect conditions for her to adjust to the freezing temperatures but the 3,000 square metre snow park also facilitates her solid fitness regime.

With premium skiing equipment, temperatures below freezing and expert instruction it is the ideal location for Al Qasimi to practice: “It is wonderful to have the opportunity to experience these climates in preparation for such a journey. Ski Dubai has fantastic facilities and has enabled me to push the limits of my training something that is invaluable before I head off on my trip,” Al Qasimi says.

Elham will depart in the second week of April, skiing cross-country for three weeks in aid of two charities PEAS - Promoting Equality in African Schools and a UAE charity which is open for nomination on her website www.elhamalqasimi.com
