Exclusive National Geographic Abu Dhabi interview with Elham to be broadcast on March 8
Abu Dhabi, 4 March 2010 - National Geographic Abu Dhabi, the only international factual entertainment channel in Arabic, marks this year's International Women's Day by screening an exclusive interview with Elham Al Qasimi, the first Arab female and the first Emirati national to attempt an unassisted and unsupported trek to the North Pole.
On March 8, viewers can watch the interview with Elham exclusively on National Geographic Abu Dhabi, and hear about her preparation for the physically demanding trip which will begin in April, and will entail skiing cross country for three weeks.
The interview also reveals 27-year-old Elham's motivation for the initiative, and her words of inspiration to others - especially Emirati and Arab women - about facing up to challenges and achieving their ambitions.
“I have a message to Emirati and Arab women on the occasion of International Women's Day: we can earn the world's respect through our achievements. We don't even have to wait for challenges to come our way, we can create our own,” Elham said.
“National Geographic Abu Dhabi is a channel dedicated to bringing Arabic-language factual entertainment to the region that is interesting, educational, inspiring, and most of all, is relevant to our viewers,” said Rohit Dsilva, General Manager, National Geographic Abu Dhabi. “Elham's trek is likely to be a huge inspiration to so many young Emiratis and young women everywhere. National Geographic Abu Dhabi wishes her success for the challenging expedition ahead.”
National Geographic Abu Dhabi will also screen an exclusive interview with Elham on completion of her trip.
The interview with Elham Al Qasimi would premiere on National Geographic Abu Dhabi on March 8 and play at various times through the day
