Ping Pong dim sum emporium offers low-calorie and vegetarian options for
health-conscious mall shoppers

Trips to the mall are a regular pastime in the United Arab Emirates and stopping for a bite to eat is part of the experience. But what do malls have to offer if you are vegetarian, health-conscious or simply want to avoid piling on the calories?

The Dubai Mall has a range of alternatives to the usual fast food chains of many malls including the UAE’s first Ping Pong dim sum restaurant offering a choice of healthy, alternative food.

Steamed dim sum in the Chinese tradition is not only healthy and pure but seals in all the nutritional elements of the food and allows the flavours to shine through. “Fresh, healthy and of course tasty is what we deliver to our customers,” says Angelo Domenico Rosato, General Manager of Ping Pong Dubai.

“We have a lot of regular customers at our Dubai Mall restaurant who come just because they know they can get either a healthy meal or a variety of vegetarian dishes. In fact we are introducing a new menu which will include many new vegetarian dishes.” Rosato added that Ping Pong also offers low sodium, dairy-free, soy-free, shellfish-free, onion and garlic-free, gluten-free and vegan meals for the health conscious.

In addition, as well as vegetarian and “small hunger” options, Ping Pong offers a low-calorie “healthy fix” set menu which includes a vegetarian wonton soup, steamed coriander and spinach and mushroom dumplings, sticky rice and the king of all dumplings the prawn har gau.

The Dubai Mall restaurant is the first Ping Pong restaurant outside of the UK and a modern take on the ancient Chinese tradition of the tea house offering small, sweet, savoury and affordable dishes with tea.

Ping Pong’s dim sum is handmade by specialist chefs and the menu features a large selection of Chinese teas ranging from healthy traditional green tea through to flowering teas and fruit-based mocktails, including no added sugar options.
