Dubai Heights Academy (DHA), a British curriculum school located in the heart of Al Barsha South, has announced the appointment of a new Vice Principal & Head of Secondary, ahead of the opening of DHA’s secondary school phase in September 2020.
With over 20 years’ UK and international experience in new, developing and established school environments, Rob Hitchings, will assist Principal Alison Lamb with the overall running of DHA as well as taking on leadership of DHA’s new secondary school phase and being responsible for all elements of digital learning.
Graduating from the University of Leeds, in the United Kingdom, with a Masters’ Degree in ICT and Education, Vice Principal Hitchings joins DHA from Al Rabeeh Academy & Al Rabeeh School where he took on the positions of Deputy Principal and Digital Learning, Technology and Innovation Manager. Prior to this he worked across various schools in the UAE as well as for the Ministry of Education.
Commenting on the new appointment, DHA Principal Alison Lamb, said: “With extensive experience in all areas of operational management including curriculum development, compliance with local and international guidelines and pastoral care as well as specialising in the analysis of student data to raise and improve school standards, Vice Principal Hitchings will be an excellent addition to our DHA team.”
DHA’s secondary school phase will offer students a wide range of subjects which will enable them to further their education, whilst focusing on areas of study that reflects their personal interests. Students will also have access to state-of-the-art facilities including temperature-regulated outdoor pools, an indoor pool, gym, 372-seat cinematic auditorium, full-sized football pitch and specialist labs for science, IT, kitchens, art and music.
“We are gearing up for a monumental year at DHA, welcoming our first ever group of Year 7 and 8 students in 2020, and Vice Principal Rob will be instrumental in the teaching and development of these students who will become our first group of students to complete their GCSE’s in January 2024,” Principal Lamb added.
DHA admissions for the next calendar school year, September 2020 – June 2021, are now open for all students from Early Years Foundation Stage through to Year 8 [and are subject to KHDA approval].
Tours are available every Monday and Wednesday morning at 9am for both parents and children interested in DHA. Not only do the tours allow potential students and their families to explore the school and its outstanding facilities but it also allows them to meet with staff members and current students as well as learn more about the English National Curriculum which is taught at DHA.
