High Jewelry Maison Van Cleef & Arpels has a new address in a town near the radiant Dubai Opera. This novel boutique, located close to this centre of cultural and artistic performances, pays homage to Maison’s long-standing links with the world of dance. With this opening, the Maison extends its partnership with Dubai Opera while showcasing its virtuoso craftsmanship through contemporary and patrimony creations.
With 222m2 of timeless design, Les Salons Van Cleef & Arpels Dubai Opera is the grandiose Van Cleef & Arpels location in the UAE. Situated on the boulevard of Dubai Opera, it reflects the enchanting spirit of the Maison in its refined aesthetic. Like many of Maison’s creations, the features of the boutique embody timeless elegance. The two-story building’s facade is notable for its unique design. Symbolic of Van Cleef & Arpels’ rich patrimony, it is inspired by a drawing from the archives. Designed in 1929, the jewel box drawing reflects the Art Deco influence over Maison’s creations during this time. A metallic moucharabieh graces the pattern of the boutique’s façade with plays of light and shadow. This architectural structure is adorned with precious and soft materials creating a graceful and shimmering curtain effect.
For the first time in the Middle East, Les Salons Van Cleef & Arpels Dubai Opera house a patrimonial area in the centre of the building, symbolic of the centre stage of an Opera house. Complimented by a lavish library, the elements of this salon bring stories to life. Visitors can embark on a journey back in time, to discover the rich history of Van Cleef & Arpels.
Completing the experience, special features include an elevator and an opulent staircase, adorned with custom made embellishments.<
“Since 2016, Maison’s friendship with the Dubai Opera has only strengthened over the years. We cherish this treasured bond and take it to a novel stage with the opening of the enchanting Les Salons Van Cleef & Arpels Dubai Opera,” says Alessandro Maffi, Managing Director Middle East and India of Van Cleef & Arpels. “It is a momentous occasion for all of us as we celebrate the wondrous universe and iconic creations of the Maison at this exclusive venue. We look forward to welcoming guests to this inspiring stellar boutique.”
Van Cleef & Arpels and Dance
Van Cleef & Arpels – for whom a sense of beauty and harmony goes hand in hand with a quest for excellence – has long turned to dance as a major source of inspiration. Ballerina clips were created in New York in the early 1940s at the prompting of Louis Arpels, a great opera and ballet lover. Much to its success, the creations progressed to become one of the signatures of Van Cleef & Arpels. The Maison continues to nurture this bond with the world of dance through collaborations such as that with Benjamin Millepied, previously principal dancer at the New York City Ballet and founder of L.A. Dance Project in 2012. The Maison’s attachment to dance and creativity also finds expression in other artistic projects, such as the “FEDORA - Van Cleef & Arpels Prize for Ballet” which supports innovation and new talents in the field of choreography.
For the dance lovers, Van Cleef & Arpels presents a patrimony exhibition, featuring an immersive array of ballerina clips from the 1940s up until today. The exhibition highlights the tradition of fluid movement, lightness and refinement: each clip brings a joyful dance to life, and many inspired by famous dancers such as La Camargo. The Patrimony exhibition opens at Les Salons Van Cleef & Arpels Dubai Opera from June 26th until mid-September.
Sunday to Wednesday: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Thursday to Saturday: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Van Cleef & Arpels
Founded at Paris' 22 Place Vendôme in 1906, Van Cleef & Arpels came into being following Estelle Arpels' marriage to Alfred Van Cleef in 1895. Over the decades, the excellence and creativity of the High Jewelry Maison established its reputation across the world. With a blend of inventiveness and poetry, Van Cleef & Arpels perpetuates a highly distinctive style that has produced numerous signatures: the Mystery Set technique, the Minaudière, the transformable Zip necklace and the Alhambra motif. Its selection of Pierres de Caractère, exceptional gems that instill an emotion, and the savoir-faire of its Mains d’Or, the virtuoso craftsmen of the workshops, have given birth to enchanting jewelry and watchmaking collections. Whether inspired by nature, couture, dance or imaginary worlds, the Maison opens the gate to a timeless universe of beauty and harmony. It currently operates over 135 boutiques globally, including 14 locations in the Middle East with the newly opened Dubai Opera Boutique.
