Mof Organises 12 Events To Celebrate The Uae Month Of Reading

Dubai, 5 April 2018: The Ministry of Finance (MoF) organised a series of cultural and educational initiatives and events which encourages reading during the month of March. This comes in line with MoF’s commitment to implementthe UAE Cabinet’s resolution of setting March as the Month of Reading, and under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The UAE Month of Reading was one of the most important initiatives of the ‘UAE National Reading Law’ in 2016, afirst-of-its-kindlegislation in the region that aims to establish a sustainable, and legal framework for a cultural interest, such as reading. HE Mariam Mohammad Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for the Management of Financial Resources stressedMoF’scommitment to interact positively with social and cultural initiatives which will increase the knowledge of its employees and strengthen their self-development. HE said: “MoFwas keen to organise internal and external initiatives and activities that encourage a culture of reading amongstits employees, andenhance its communication channels cognitive between related entities to positively affect the UAE society.” HE added: “The wise leadership stressed the importance of reading as an important element in our life by launching the National Reading Strategy 2016-2026, recognising that reading is the key to development. We continuously work to encourage this cultural behaviour amongst the employeesas part of our belief that raising the cultural and knowledge levels amongst the Ministry's employees helps them develop their capabilities, and is closely connected to the innovation we adopt as a working method. This will contribute to achieve ourobjectivesto reach global leadership and position ourselves as a global model in financial management.”
