Dubai Police Cruise Through Nas Futsal Qualifying

DUBAI – The Dubai Police futsal team have cruised through to the main draw of the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament with an all-win record in the qualifying tournament. The NAS Futsal qualifying tournament, held from March 21-24 at Al Manarah Sports Hall, saw 15 teams vying for eight spots in the main draw of the 2018 NAS Sports Tournament, which will be held for the sixth year in the Holy month of Ramadhan. Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council (DSC), the NAS Sports Tournament is the biggest event of its kind in terms of prize money and level of competition in different sport. Placed in the three-team Group D, Dubai Police drubbed Al Fuhud 5-1 in their opening match on Friday and then won their second clash against Al Hazm 3-1 to go through undefeated. Al Hazm, who had shared the honours with Al Fuhud in their opening match following a 4-4 draw, clinched the second qualifying spot from the group thanks to their better goal difference. A better goal difference also saw MKS finish ahead of Al Theyaba in Group A to clinch the second qualifying spot, behind Team Rashid, who bounced back after getting drubbed 0-7 by Al Theyaba in their opening match. Team Rashid first edged MKS 4-3 and then defeated Shabab Alain 10-4 to top the group. In Group B, Al Saada and Pirates went through their pool matches undefeated and qualified with seven points apiece, while Inthar finished at the top of Group C with seven points, one more than second-placed Team Dubai.
