Dubai, UAE:There have been no shortages of opportunities for UAE Nationals seeking employmentopenings and clear career progression at this year’s Careers UAE as a host of private and governmental organisations have brought the latest developments in their hiring processes to place Emiratis in meaningful positions to suit their qualifications, skills and personality.
On top of the range of participating exhibitors such as Dubai Police, The Armed Forces, Commercial Bank of Dubai, Al Ain Zoo and Etisalat, the show floor hosted a wealth of features including the Creativity Lab which is designed to take candidates through a step-by-step journey to hone their skills throughout the hiring process. Onsite experts educated young Emiratis on how to enhance their CVs, interviewing skills and to give guidance on the roles best suited to their abilities.
Recruiting for Dubai’s Finest
Hosting their biggest stand since they first exhibited in 2000, Dubai Police have their latest technology and senior representatives in full force in order to support the Nation’s Emiratisation goals.
Offering 12 new positions onsite at Careers UAE, Dubai Police have also implemented a new system that has been customised for their hiring process, allowing forthe examination of personality as well as the candidate’s skills, ensuring the right person is hiredfor the right department
Gen. Ahmed Mohamed Rafia, Director of HR for Dubai Police said, “The development of this system allows for optimal placement of a potential employee in the Dubai Police picking up on subtle answers to questions in our interviewing process. For example if someone has answered revealing they are an analytical thinker they would be placed in the appropriate department.”
Additionally, the Dubai Police has also seen a spike in female applicants spurred on by the creation of positions for female pilots.
Said Gen. Rafia, “This year, most of the applicants have been females because we used a different approach this year, as we didn’t reveal a number of vacancies but we offered new position for different categories. On top of creating more roles for women, we have also opened up positions for candidates for people of determination.”
Private Organisations embrace Nationalism
In line with the nation’s goal of Emiratisation, exhibitors are keen to scout local talent in order to grow their Emirati workforce. Majid Al Futtaim have been using the event as platform to meet capable young professionals since it’s the first edition held in 2000.
Mouien Al Madhoun, Chief Human Capital Officer, Majid Al Futtaim Holding said,“Platforms like Careers UAE provides us with an unrivalled opportunity to connect with local graduates and knowledge-seekers looking for a fulfilling career in an environment of empowerment, growth and development.”
“Leadership is no longer defined by age or experience. Globally, we are seeing a paradigm shift in how we assess talent, as individuals seek to move away from ‘doing a job’ to playing a meaningful role in the growth of an organisation.
“Companies cannot rely on simply providing workplace experience, but rather must create opportunities that bring the best out of people, underpinned by a clear sense of purpose.
“As a regionally-focused lifestyle conglomerate, localisation continues to be a strategic pillar of our People Agenda, reinforcing our commitment to providing rewarding personal and professional growth opportunities for the communities in which we operate.
The country’s educators
Amongst the private and public organisations, the country’s top institutes for education participate in order to grow their local workforce across all departments and to prioritise Emiratisation goals.
Believing on the spot interviews to provide accurate and prompt results, Zayed University has offered 80 vacancies during Careers UAE across their Dubai and Abu Dhabi campuses in their administrative departments.
Prof. Reyadh AlMehaideb, Vice President of Zayed University said: “The university is pursuing a strategy of Emiratisation, which is based on attracting young Emiratis both fresh graduates who have distinguished themselves in their studies, as well as graduates who are already working and have different skills and scientific qualifications.
“The percentage of Emiratisation in the university reached 49% of the total staff (members of the managerial departments), while the proportion of national employees compared to the total number of employees of the university from the managerial and teaching staff amounted to 24%.”
Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the event will educate visitors on how their skills and qualifications are best suited for different professions in the public and private sectors through three days of conferences, interviews and an insight into new employment opportunities.
