Hh Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum Opens Industry-Shaping Middle East Electricity 2018

Spotlight falls on latest solar, lighting, distribution, transmission and generation solutions to meet GCC’s US$131 power investment needs Dubai, UAE – 6March 2018:His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA); Chairman of Dubai Supreme FiscalCommittee, the Government of Dubai; and Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, officially inaugurated the industry-shaping Middle East Electricity (MEE) 2018 today. Hosted by the UAE Ministry of Energy, MEE returns to Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) amid soaring regional demand for power and increasing transformation towards clean, smart energy solutions. Running until 8 March under the theme ‘Energising the Industry’, the 43rd edition of the region’s leading trade event for the power industry, is expected to attractmore than 62,000 industry professionals. Touring the 80,000 square feet exhibition, HH Sheikh Ahmed was joined by other VIP dignitaries in viewing some of the latest innovations on display at the three-day mega show. Some1,500 exhibitorsfrom 66 countries, supported by 23 dedicated national pavilions, including Germany, the UK, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, China and more, are displaying the latest technologies, products and services acrossfive dedicated sectors: Power Generation, Transmission & Distribution, Lighting, Solar and, for the first time, Energy Storage & Management. MEE 2018, hosted by the UAE Ministry of Energy & Industry, opened amid a seismic shift in the regional power industry. With demand for power across the Gulf rising rapidly as a result of increasing populations, expanding economies and climate change, the GCC Power Market Report, prepared by Ventures Onsite for MEE, forecasts that Gulf countries will invest US$131 billion in the sector in coming years. “As a long-established weathervane for the constantly evolving regional power industry, hosting Middle East Electricity is a natural fit with the strategic objectives of the Ministry,” said H.E.
