Dubai, February 27, 2018
In a remarkable observance of women’s contribution to global progress, more than 200 like-minded female leaders will participate in the ‘Global Mentoring Walk’on March 10th at the Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club from 8:00 am to 11 am.
An astounding 138 walks will be coordinated on the same day around the world to mark the landmark occasion of International Women’s day.
Organised by popular female entrepreneur platform Mompreneurs Middle East, The ‘Vital Voices Global Mentoring Walk’ is an opportunity to highlight the importance of women's leadership, and to accelerate the impact of women leaders through mentoring.
The annual mentoring walk brings together established female leaders and emerging women leaders to walk together in their community.
As they walk, they discuss their professional challenges, successes and establish a mentoring relationship in which the seasoned leader guides, advises and supports her peers.
Starting in 2008, the Vital Voices Global Mentoring Walk has taken place every year in over 50 countries to celebrate International Women’s Day. Thousands of women from across the globe gather in their own communities to participate in the walk.
In 2017 Vital Voices had more than 14,000 women from around the world participate in 86 walks in more than 55 countries. Each year it reignites a global movement and sparks a dynamic conversation about the importance of investing in women.
"Mentorship is at the core of our e7 program, with seasoned professionals and entrepreneurs providing guidance, resources and motivation to the young women as they develop and implement their team projects. We love the idea of combining mentorship and movement. There's something very special and liberating about having a conversation side-by-side, as opposed to face-to-face; like you're with a partner heading towards a shared goal.” says Adela Acevedo, Chair e7 daughters of the Emirates. Who will be walking this year alongside her troupe of community focused, young Emirati Entrepreneurs!
Moreover, this year, the Global Mentoring Walk is excited to strategically partner with WEPS and the UNGC. Two prolific organisations dedicated to
bridging the gender gap, and continually fostering the place of women in corporations worldwide.
“We are delighted to host the Global Mentoring Walk in Dubai again this year for the 3rd time. This is a truly unique event whose impact is almost immediately felt by all the participants. Mentees have a chance to learn from well-established business figures who are there to pay it forward and support the community.” Says Mona Tavassoli, the CEO and Founder of Mompreneurs Middle East.
About Vital Voices
The non-profit Vital Voices Global Partnership grew out of the U.S. government's successful Vital Voices Democracy Initiative.
The Vital Voices Democracy Initiative was established in 1997 by then-First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton and former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright after the United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing to promote the advancement of women as a U.S. foreign policy goal.
Under the leadership of the Vital Voices Democracy Initiative, the U.S. government, in partnership with the Inter-American Development Bank, the United Nations, the World Bank, the Nordic Council of Ministers, the European Union and other governments coordinated Vital Voices conferences throughout the world, bringing together thousands of emerging women leaders from over 80 countries.
Vital Voices Global Partnership is the preeminent non-governmental organization (NGO) that identifies, trains and empowers emerging women leaders and social entrepreneurs around the globe, enabling them to create a better world for us all.
They enable women to become change agents in their governments, advocates for social justice, and supporters of democracy and the rule of law.
They equip women with management, business development, marketing, and communications skills to expand their enterprises, help to provide for their families, and create jobs in their communities.
The international staff and team of over 1,000 partners, pro bono experts and leaders, including senior government, corporate and NGO executives, have trained and mentored more than 15,000 emerging women leaders from over 144 countries in Africa, Asia, Eurasia, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Middle East since 1997. These women have returned home to train and mentor more than 500,000 additional women and girls in their communities. They are the Vital Voices of our time.
